Make sure you're prepared for the severe heat before you head out the door this morning. An Excessive Heat Warning remains in place for the North Valley until 8pm this evening, and a more widespread Heat Advisory will stay in place for the remaining valley, foothills, and some mountain areas through 8pm tonight as well. Conditions are expected to be very hot and dry today, with light winds. Skies are clear for the start of your Wednesday morning, and are projected to stay sunny today. Temperatures have only dipped into the low to mid 70's in the valley overnight, and into the 50's to 60's in the mountains this morning. Winds will be light today, and humidity is expected to dip as low as 10 percent this afternoon. Temperatures will be extremely hot. Valley areas are expected to top out in the 106 to 112 degree range this afternoon, and mountain areas will end up in the 95 to 105 degree range later today. Wearing light and loose fitting clothing could help to keep you a bit more comfortable in the heat. You'll also want to make sure to stay hydrated and keep a close eye on loved ones as heat related illness will be very possible today.
A very modest but welcome cooling trend will return to Northern California on Thursday, but temperatures will continue to be well above average. A few clouds are expected to brush across the region on Thursday afternoon, but showers are not expected. Temperatures will drop by several degrees on Friday, and that will result in some areas of the valley staying below the century mark on Friday afternoon. Temperatures are projected to end up in the mid 90's to low triple digits on Friday afternoon, and will stay in the same range on Saturday. There will be a chance for mountain showers and thunderstorms returning for your Friday and Saturday forecast as moisture from the South tracks into our area. Temperatures will heat back into the high 90's to 105 degree range in the valley on Sunday, and will continue to climb heading through the start of next week. Triple digit heat will be likely for the entire valley for the start of next week.
