BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – Earth Day 2021 will be celebrated by two community art projects led by local artist, teacher, and Camp Fire Long Term Disaster Case Manager Bobbie Rae Jones.

Jones has been working with an international group called “Drawing on Earth” to create projects locally that are tied to the worldwide “Global Creative Challenge 2021.”

She is an art teacher at the Children’s Community Charter School in Paradise on Pentz Road. 135 of her students will start the chalk drawing of a butterfly on Monday after completing practice drawings for the last few weeks.

The entire school is participating in creating the giant chalk drawing with a focus on “imagining a world that works for everyone, everywhere.”

Another Earth Day chalk drawing will be completed at the old Rock House property in Concow on Earth Day, Thursday, Apr. 22 between 1-5:00 p.m.

Jones said all families and children are invited to the “Drawing on Earth” Concow community project.

Also at the location will be a variety of food, demonstrations, vendors, family activities and special giveaways.

People who are interested in performing or having a booth at the Concow Earth Day event can contact Bobbie Rae Jones at bobbieraejones@gmail.com or can call her at (530) 332-8235.
