DUNSMUIR, Calif. - The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office says the cause of a structure fire led to the arrest of a Dunsmuir man due to the suspicion that he set a house on fire Saturday.

According to the sheriff’s office, two deputies worked with a fire investigator from the Mt. Shasta Fire District and suspect that a fire in the city of Dunsmuir was linked to intentional and deliberate actions of a suspect.

Deputies say, Kyle Phillip Rose, 58, of Dunsmuir allegedly set the house fire while there were occupants.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. at the 4400 block of Dunsmuir Avenue and the blaze ignited on the home’s porch and caused $100,000 in damages.

No one was injured during the blaze, officials said.

There has not been a motive released by authorities.
