Looks like you'll be wanting your jacket this morning, and needing your umbrella later this week. We'll be staying mostly dry across Northern California for your Monday, but showers will return to our region tonight. You may want to take advantage of the dry weather while it lasts, because a substantial winter storm system is set to bring heavy rain, snow, and gusty winds to Northern California. We're starting out mostly clear for the start of your Monday. Temperatures have dipped into the 30's to 40's in the valley, and into the teens to 30's in the mountains overnight. Winds are out of the North to around 10mph this morning, and are expected to be in the same range this afternoon. Clouds will filter back into our area through the day, but it looks like showers will hold off until tonight. Temperatures are projected to top out in the mid to high 50's in the valley this afternoon, and into the 40's to low 50's in the mountains later today. Showers are not expected to be very heavy tonight, but snow levels could be down to around 3500' to 4500'.

Some travel impacts can be expected on Tuesday morning, but the bigger travel problems will be returning later in the week. Showers will stay mostly light on Tuesday, and snow levels will lift up to around 5000' by Wednesday. Heavy rain and snow are projected to return to Northern California on Wednesday afternoon, and to last through early Friday. South winds will become gusty as that system moves in on Wednesday night. South gusts to 45mph will be possible in the valley, with gusts up to 65mph possible along the Sierra crest. Up to 3 inches of rain will be possible in the valley, and up to 5 feet of snow could fall along our highest peaks from Wednesday through Friday. Looks like most of the showers will wrap up late Thursday into early Friday, but some light precipitation will linger for the end of your work week. It does look like you can expect dry to mostly dry weather for your Saturday, but another round of wet weather is in the forecast for late Saturday night through Monday.
