CHICO, Calif. - A man on probation and his wife were arrested when the Butte County Probation Department was supervising the man for child endangerment, according to the probation department.

Officers identified the man as Randal Bland, 36, and his wife as Diane Bland, 31. The residence was located on Hemlock St., according to Wayne Barley, Chief Probations Officer for Butte County Probation Department.

On Wednesday, officers contacted Randal, Diane and their 17-month-old child before they began to search the residence under his terms and conditions of probation.

During the search, officers found two handguns, ammunition, multiple drugs, a mace, hatchet and several knives.

The drugs found were marijuana vape cartridges, psilocybin mushrooms and packages of marijuana edibles that appeared like snack foods and candies.

Randal and Diane were arrested for child endangerment and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Randal was also arrested on gun and ammunition charges while being on probation.

The child was placed into foster custody through Children’s Services due to all the items being in reach of the minor and the parent’s arrest.

The parents were booked into the Butte County Jail.

Light scattered showers are on tap for the start of your Thursday, and I'm tracking heavier rain ahead from Thursday afternoon through mid day Friday. We'll have a lull in our wet pattern late Friday through early Saturday, but even heavier rain and snow will return this weekend and persist into next week. Major travel impacts will be possible across northern California from this wet weather.
