Drowned 'experienced cliff diver' was identified

The man who jumped off a bridge into Lake Bitton near Burney and drowned has been identified.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has released the identification of the person who was found in the water of Lake Britton.

The person was identified as 23-year-old Don Taylor Gorum of Sparks, Nev., the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to a report of a possible drowning Gorum jumped off a Highway 89 bridge into Lake Britton on Wednesday afternoon.

Gorum did not resurface for about 30 minutes and was found in about 37 feet of water around 7:45 p.m.
