WILLOWS, Calif. – A driver is recovering after his car went into a ditch Sunday in Willows.

37-year-old Mike Martindale from Willows was driving a 2013 Chevrolet suburban westbound on the southern levee of the GCID canal, east of Highway 99W and north of County Road 53.

The CHP said the man lost control as he turned the corner and went right into an irrigation canal.

Willows Fire crews said some witnesses were able to pull him out of the SUV and revive him.

Martindale was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
