CHICO, Calif. - An impressive new sculpture outside a Chico area home has passersby turning their heads for a better look.

It's a huge dragon that resembles something out of a "Transformers" movie.

Perry Borrero tells Action News Now he had it specially made by an artist in Indonesia, after being inspired by a window display at the Kalifano store in Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas.

The sculpture is 10 1/2 feet tall with a wingspan of 10 feet. It weighs 1700 pounds. Borrero says it took the artist five months to build out of scrap metal and engine parts.

The dragon arrived in Chico in eight pieces in August and took about two hours to assemble.

Borrero says he has loved dragons since reading "Lord of the Rings" as a teenager and was also inspired to buy a second, smaller dragon sculpture that weighs about 300 pounds.

Both sit outside his home on Kilkare Lane. Borrero says he doesn't mind if people travel up his driveway for a closer look, or to take pictures.

Tuesday was another sunny and unseasonably warm to hot day for much of northern California. It was much like Monday, except the wind was stronger, and the wind will be much stronger through much of the next week.
