CHICO, Calif. - The Chico Police Department is investigating dozens of headstones vandalized at the Chico Cemetery overnight.

Chico Cemetery Manager Marc Brusie said that the headstones vandalized were all in the oldest part of the cemetery, which has been around since the 1800s.

The cemetery, which is located on Mangrove Avenue, has security patrols in the evening but theBrusie said that they did not see the vandalism.

The Chico Cemetary will have to pay for the damages and according to the Brusie, it could take years to fix due to lack of funding.

He said they will have to appeal to the public for help in with funding.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chico Police Department at (530) 897-4900.

Cloudy skies and very light scattered showers are lingering across northern California for the start of your Wednesday, but we'll be clearing out and warming up Wednesday afternoon. We'll be sunny and warmer on Thursday, but clouds will increase Friday. More showers are looking likely Friday night into Saturday, but we'll dry out again for Halloween on Sunday.
