REDDING, Calif. - Downtown Redding received its 2021 accreditation from Main Street America. This isn't the first time that Downtown Redding earned this recognition. Downtown Redding has been accredited for the last 10 years.
But this year's recognition is even more special.
“It's even more special considering all the improvements that have happened in the year in a year, where many cities closed because of the pandemic,” said Blake Fisher, the Program Coordinator for Viva Downtown.
“It seems that downtown seemed to continue to have meaningful improvements.”
Viva Downtown says downtown revitalization wouldn't have been possible without their community partners.
“We couldn't have done this without all the community that we have here in downtown Redding,” said Fisher.
“Like the City of Redding, K2 development, McConnell Foundation, and all of the local business.”
People in the community can’t wait to see what the future of Downtown Redding holds.
“I just feel like it's so full of hopeful and it feels like the real Redding is emerging,” said Hilary Treat of Redding.
“It's exciting and I'm excited for the bikes to come in too.”
Viva Downtown says it received notice of its accreditation this month
