CHICO, Calif. - Happening Wednesday until 4 p.m., Chico State is partnering with Vitalant for a blood drive.

The blood drive is being held in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium at 400 west Second Street in downtown Chico. The university and the Chico Staff Council sponsor the blood drive.

Action News Now spoke to one man who donated blood, Andy Nodzak, this is his 80th time donating.

“It’s a good way to give back to the community, Nodzak said. "The percentage of eligible blood donors is actually very low for those who actually donate. So I like to do my part to help."

After you donate blood, you get a free snack.

A representative from Vitalant said they are behind on blood this year, so go out and donate!

The staff said that walk-ins are welcome or you can call 530-898-5905 to make an appointment, a photo ID is required.

It was nice to receive some rain and mountain snow around northern California late Sunday and early Monday. Thankfully a change to our overall weather pattern is underway, and many more chances of rain are coming!
