Dixie Fire forces new evacuation orders near Lake Almanor

Increased fire activity from the Dixie Fire has caused evacuation orders in the areas of Lake Almanor.

PLUMAS COUNTY, Calif. - There are new evacuations for the Dixie Fire in the area of Lake Almanor, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office said.

From the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 89 south to Lake Almanor West Dr. and everything east to the lake is under an evacuation order.

This includes the “law” subdivision, Prattville and Canyondam. The orders extend from Canyondam northwest to Highway 89 and south of Lake Almanor West Dr.

Big Meadows, the Pocky point Campground and the Canyondam Boat launch are all asked to leave.

People can evacuate to Chester where a shelter is set up at 180 Gay St.

A warning has been issued for the Lake Almanor Peninsula. This includes Hamilton Branch, Bailey Creek, the North Shore Campground and all of the Lake Almanor Peninsula community.
