PALERMO, Calif. - Detectives are looking for a man in connection to the murder of his mother in Palermo, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a relative that was murdered.

Deputies responded to the location of the caller at the 3000 block of Ontario Ave. in Palermo.

When they arrived they found 67-year-old Dianna Rood of Palermo dead.

Deputies gained evidence that led them to believe Dianna was murdered.

During an investigation, detectives learned 38-year-old John Rood was the son of Dianna.

The evidence they gathered gave them the reason to believe John murdered Dianna on Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, officials got an arrest warrant for John for an open count of murder and are currently looking for John.

Anyone with information about John’s location is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
