Arrest made near origin of Dersch Fire east of Anderson

The Dersch Fire started in Shasta County east of Anderson. CAL FIRE has made an arrest near the origin of where the fire started.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - The Dersch Fire east of Anderson in Shasta County is 133 acres and 100% contained, according to Cal Fire. The location this fire started at is Dersch Road and Franciscan Way, east of Anderson.

All evacuations that were ordered for the Dersch Fire have been lifted, according to a Shasta County Sheriff's Office spokesperson.

According to CAL FIRE Shasta Unit Battalion Chief J. T. Zulliger, an arrest was made in the vicinity of where the Dersch Fire started.

The man arrested for the domestic violence incident at or near the location of the origin of the Dersch Fire is 29-year-old Caleb Michael Eckert.

His possible involvement with the start of the Dersch Fire is under investigation by the CAL FIRE Shasta Unit, according to a spokesperson of the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.

Chief Zulliger said the Shasta County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence incident in the area where the fire started. He said threats were made by one of the individuals on the property to burn a car.
