Deputies: Tehama County man arrested after sexually assaulting a woman

A man was arrested in connection to sexually assaulting a woman in Tehama County.

TEHAMA COUNTY, Calif. - A man was arrested for an attack that happened on Thursday on a woman near Corning, the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Corning Police Department arrested Jonathan Stamper, 37, on Friday around 3:45 p.m.

Stamper met up with a woman on Thursday night in the Red Bluff area, according to deputies.

Stamper drove around the Corning area with the woman in his vehicle.

Deputies said Stamper stopped the vehicle in a rural area and sexually assaulted the woman.

She was left in an unknown area of the county and called a friend to pick her up.

Stamper is facing kidnapping, false imprisonment, forced sodomy and battery causing great bodily injury.

The investigation is ongoing.
