A cold morning was followed by another mild afternoon across Northern California. High temperatures in the valley today were in the 50's to near 60 and it was in the 50's in many mountain locations as well.
All that will change quickly for the Monday, last day of 2018. A dry cold front passing overhead will bring us a few clouds but no precipitation. But it will do is kick up the winds overnight and it will be quite gusty tomorrow with winds in the valley 15-30 mph out of the north and stronger gusts on the west side of the valley and in the mountains. Due to the windy conditions, a wind advisory has been posted for Monday across a great deal of Northern California.
Also on Monday, New Year's Eve, because of the winds it will be quite cold in the mountains with the wind chill factor in the teens or lower.
Windy conditions will moderate on New Year's Day and so will the temperatures. The first day of 2019 will feel a little warmer than the last day of 2018. Meanwhile the rest of the week will have mild days and cold nights until Friday. As we head toward next weekend increasing clouds will set in and rain and snow will return to Northern California on Saturday and Sunday.
