A Butte County Deputy saved a man trapped in a car sinking into the Feather River on Saturday, Aug. 3.

OROVILLE, Calif. - A Butte County Deputy saved a man trapped in a car sinking into the Feather River on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 9:48 p.m.

CAL FIRE says this happened near the river reflections RV park on Pacific Heights Way in South Oroville.

A 21-year-old man reported he accidentally drove his car into the Feather River and was unable to get out of the car.

A deputy swam out to the car and noticed the water was up to the car windows. The deputy managed to break the window and free the 21-year-old.
