SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. – A man is facing charges after he threatened to kill a security officer at Mercy Medical Center, according to the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office.
A Shasta County jury found Peter John Arendas guilty of criminal threats on Thursday.
The charges come from an incident where Arendas was asked to leave Mercy Medical Center because of his disruptive behavior in the lobby on May 13, 2019.
As security escorted him off of the property, Arendas threatened to kill one of the security guards, the DA said.
He also told the security officer that he had a knife, took out the knife, and again threatened the officer.
The case was set for sentencing on Feb. 24. At sentencing, Arendas faces up to three years in state prison.
