UPDATE: 4:47 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020 - A former Butte College employee pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to felony charges of grand theft and embezzlement.
Teri Jo Buckman, the former Office Manager for the Butte College Student Health Center, is accused of stealing from the school. She is also charged with forgery, identity theft, and practicing medicine without certification.
The college would not say how much money was taken, but did say Buckman resigned from her job in December 2019.
Her preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 16, 2020.
BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - The former Office Manager for the Butte College Student Health Center is charged with felony embezzlement and grand theft.
District Attorney Mike Ramsey confirms that Teri Jo Buckman faces four felony counts that also include forgery and identity theft, and practicing medicine without certification.
Ramsey told Action News Now that the theft involves thousands of dollars and that they are working to determine just how much money was taken. He said Buckman was pocketing money when students paid in cash, and that she faces up to four years in jail if she's convicted.
Butte College Officials confirm that Buckman was the Administrative Secretary and Office Coordinator until she resigned in December of 2019. They say she was employed by Butte College for 17 years.
Buckman is scheduled to appear in court to face charges on July 1, 2020. Butte College Police are investigating this case.
