Butte Lightning Complex now 80% contained

All fires in the Butte Unit are in mop up and patrol status, Cal Fire officials shared Tuesday morning. Firefighters today will be working to strengthen containment lines and mitigate hot spots for several days, but it is expected that all of the fires in Butte County will stay within their current fire lines.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - All fires in the Butte Unit are in mop up and patrol status, Cal Fire officials shared Tuesday morning. Firefighters today will be working to strengthen containment lines and mitigate hot spots for several days, but it is expected that all of the fires in Butte County will stay within their current fire lines.

Cal Fire said their next incident update will be provided once the fires are 100% contained.

The Butte Lightning Complex is 2,782 acres and 80% contained, according to Cal Fire. There are still eight fires being staffed out of the 34 lightning-caused fires, all under the management of the Butte-Tehama-Glenn Lightning Complex.

The first fire in the Butte Zone Incident was reported around 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2020.

1-2 Fire is 94 acres and 95% contained. It's located southeast of Inskip near High Rock Ravine.

1-7 Fire is 175 acres and 85% contained

1-8 Fire is 92 acres 92% contained. It's located west and northwest of Inskip.

1-12 Fire is 947 acres and 60% contained. It's located in Butte Creek drainage.

1-13 Fire is one acre and 95% contained, located near Crane Valley

2-24 Fire is 285 acres and is 98% contained

5-4 Fire (formerly called Potters Fire) is now 927 acres and 98% contained

5-6 Fire is 261 acres and is 98% contained. It's located northeast of Feather Falls


ROAD CLOSURES

  • Skyway will is closed in both directions south of Butte Meadows at the cross with Butte Creek, to the Humbug Y (intersection of Skyway and Humbug Summit Road). The road will be closed in both directions and only emergency vehicles will be allowed through the road closure.
