UPDATE (2:33 p.m.) - Cal Fire Public Information Officer, John Gaddie, provided an update on the driver involved in the collision.
Firefighters were able to remove the driver from the scene. Butte EMS then transported the person to a local hospital. Action News Now is working to learn more about the driver's condition.
The propane truck had about 2,000 gallons of product, according to Cal Fire. Crews were able to take measures to prevent the propane from becoming too heated within the tank to prevent an explosion. The measure worked and firefighters were able to stop the leak.
The fire spread to surrounding dry rice fields, but crews contained it at 30 acres.
Evacuations are in place within one mile in each direction of the truck located at Colusa Highway and Pennington Road. Gaddie said the evacuations are in a very rural part of Butte County. One family and or residence was evacuated.
The crash happened just after 8:30 a.m. Monday. Cal Fire Butte Unit crews will be on the scene for the next several hours.
Action News Now reporter Amy Lanski is on scene and spoke with Gaddie about this incident.
