UPDATE 9:50 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 - The Oroville Fire Department is continuing to mop up hot spots of a fire that broke out in an abandoned warehouse at the Koppers Inc. Plant.

According to Rob Buckhout, public information officer for the Oroville Fire Department, dispatch received a call about the fire at 6:26 a.m. on Monday.

When crews arrived on the scene, the structure was 80 percent involved. They immediately started to defend the perimeter of the fire so that it wouldn't spread.

The fire did not spread, but the structure was 100 percent destroyed.

Nobody was injured in the incident. There was an issue with the gas line near the structure, so crews requested that PG&E cut the gas line.

The fire is currently being investigated as possibly being started under suspicious circumstances due to the time of day that the fire broke out and the fact that there is no electricity in that building.
