GERBER, Calif. - A traffic collision on Highway 99W and Gerber Road sent six people to the hospital on Tuesday morning.
The collision happened around 8 a.m. at Highway 99W and Gerber Road, the CHP said. The crash involved a vehicle and a transit bus.
Officers said a 17-year-old male from Los Molinos was driving a 1990 Ford Mustang east on Gerber Road, approaching the intersection of Highway 99W and Gerber Road.
68-year-old Steven Darrough of Red Bluff was driving a 2017 Ford transit bus north on Highway 99W, also approaching the intersection of Highway 99W and Gerber Road.
The mustang entered the intersection of Highway 99W and Gerber Road, directly in front of the transit bus, causing the bus to collide with the mustang.
Due to the collision, both occupants of the Ford Mustang were ejected from the vehicle, and sustained major injuries, the CHP said.
Four passengers from the transit bus sustained injuries and were transported to Mercy Medical Center.
Highway 99W was closed but then reopened around 9 a.m., the CHP said.
