CHP confirms one person is dead after crash in South Oroville

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a car crash in South Oroville Thursday morning, according to the CHP.

UPDATE: 3:34 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 - One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a crash in South Oroville Thursday morning, according to the CHP.

The CHP confirmed to Action News Now Thursday afternoon that the passenger in the blue Suburban died in the hospital. The driver of the vehicle is in the hospital with major injuries.

UPDATE: 9:43 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 - Two people are majorly injured and part of Lincoln Blvd in South Oroville is shut down following a collision Thursday morning.

The crash was reported after 8:20 a.m. Thursday on Lincoln Blvd south of Helman St in South Oroville.

A blue Suburban was driving south on Lincoln Blvd at a high rate of speed, the driver turned into a driveway, collided with a rock and power pole, then slammed into a garage, according to CHP Officer Ben Draper.

Two men were inside the Suburban. The passenger and driver have been majorly injured, Draper said. Nobody was inside the garage that the car crashed into.

PG&E is on scene working to repair the power pole that was nearly knocked over in the crash.

OROVILLE, Calif. – Lincoln Blvd. in south Oroville is currently closed following a traffic collision near Virginia Ave., according to Cal Fire.

The crash was reported just before 9 a.m. Cal Fire said a power pole and utility lines were impacted in the collision. In photos shared by Cal Fire on Twitter, the power pole is almost knocked down.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
