The bus tour will visit Chico encouraging Californians to sign-up for health insurance and will be "Covering the state in Art," this year, working with local artists who will be doing murals to highlight Covered California's commitment to building communities, and promoting health and wellness for all Californians.
Covered California will hold a news conference as part of its statewide bus tour at Ampla Health. Officials will discuss what's new for this year's open enrollment efforts - despite national confusion and chaos surrounding the Affordable Care Act - key dates and deadlines, and where consumers can go locally to receive free, in-person assistance to sign up for health insurance.
The statewide bus tour will make many stops across California, and will be working with local clinics and agents across the state to highlight Covered California's commitment to building communities, and promoting health and wellness for all Californians.

WHY: There is just about a month and a half left for Californians to enroll in affordable, quality health coverage. They cannot be denied coverage and 9 out of 10 qualify for financial assistance to lower the cost of their coverage. Across California, more than 16,000 Certified Insurance Agents, Certified Enrollment Counselors and other representatives are available to help consumers apply for health coverage. All assistance is free and confidential.
The fifth open-enrollment period for Covered California began, Wednesday Nov.1, 2017 and runs through Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018.

Covered California is the state's marketplace for the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Covered California, in partnership with the California Department of Health Care Services, was charged with creating a new health insurance marketplace in which individuals and small businesses can get access to affordable health insurance plans. Covered California helps individuals determine whether they are eligible for premium assistance that is available on a sliding-scale basis to reduce insurance costs or whether they are eligible for low-cost or no-cost Medi-Cal.
