CHICO, Calif. – Chico Police arrested two people on Sunday night after witnesses reported a stabbing.
Around 6:18 p.m. Chico Police Dispatch received a report of a fight at the 100 block of E. Lassen Avenue. Witnesses reported that someone involved in the fight was in possession of a knife. Witnesses added, the driver of a vehicle also attempted to run over some of the individuals involved.
The suspect was reported to be driving off in a white GMC Yukon. Officers pursued the vehicle for about one block. 33-year-old Ryan Rash was then contacted by police where they learned he was on Post Release Community Supervision.
Officers said Rash stabbed someone twice near East Lassen and Esplanade Sunday night. Police said the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening. The victim said Ryan made racist remarks during the assault.
Rash was arrested and is facing hate crime charges. Officers also arrested Rash’s wife, Ashley Rash. Police say she is facing charges of battery.
