COTTONWOOD, Calif. – A marijuana raid led to the arrest of a Cottonwood man Tuesday.

Authorities served a search warrant in the 18000 block of Lone Wolf Drive where they said an illegal commercial marijuana growing operation was found.

At the location, authorities said they found eight large greenhouses with 9,665 marijuana plants, 500 pounds of packaged marijuana bud ready for sale, 2,500 pounds of marijuana shake, and one semi-automatic rifle.

The property owner, Kong Peng Vang, was also found at the scene and arrested for several health and safety code violations. He was booked into the Tehama County Jail.

Investigators also said they learned Vang had been selling marijuana clone starter plants and setting up greenhouses for other marijuana growers in the area. A vehicle, trailer, and $1,300 in cash were seized.

It's been another hot and smoky day for the valley of northern California, with showers and thunderstorms once again popping up over our mountains. It will quiet down tonight with more hot, active weather tomorrow.
