CORNING, Calif. - The Corning Police Department announced the death of one of its K9 officers, Oso, on Wednesday.
Oso came to the Corning Police Department just before his 2nd birthday.
He was partnered with Chief Jeremiah Fears for the nine years he was with the Corning Police Department.
Oso retired from the force shortly before Sergeant Fears became the police chief.
Chief Fears said he is thankful to the city of Corning for giving him the best nine years of his career by teaming him with Oso.
The department released the following statement in regards to Oso's death:
"I will remain ever silent, ever vigilant, ever loyal. And when our time together is done and you move on in the world remember me with kind thoughts and tales, for a time we were unbeatable, nothing passed among us undetected. If we should meet again on
another street I will gladly take up your fight, I am K9 Oso, and together we are guardians of the night."
