Forward progress has stopped on Butte Creek Canyon fire

The Butte Unit of CAL FIRE quickly stopped progress on an escaped control burn on Nimshew Road in Butte Creek Canyon.

BUTTE CREEK CANYON, Calif. - The CAL FIRE Butte Unit has contained a vegetation fire on Nimshew Road west of Magalia, above Irishtown in Butte Creek Canyon.

According to CAL FIRE, the Nimshew Incident started at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Saturday when a controlled burn escaped its perimeter.

Fire trucks and hand crews were called on to help fight the fire on Nimshew near Gold Rush Road.

As of 6:10 p.m., a CAL FIRE spokesperson said forward progress on the fire had been stopped.
