OROVILLE, Calif. - As fire season approaches - Butte County Cal Fire is looking to expand its resources.
The new headquarters are going to be in Oroville.
Crews began demolishing the 9 building complex on two years ago - that's on Nelson Avenue.
Crews need to finish up clearing debris and building before they can start the new complex.
Part of the reason firefighters needed a new complex is because fire trucks couldn't fit in the old building.
Facilities at the coming complex include a new fire station, fleet maintenance shop and an administration building.
"Right now obviously our fire department, our headquarter staff, our support staff are scattered in many different parts of the county. Once this complex is done the most part of that staff all return back to this facility," said David Hawks, a Cal Fire Butte Unit and County Fire Chief.
Cal Fire tells Action News Now construction will be complete by next Spring.
