GREENVILLE, Calif. - North State Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) delivered the Republican address to the nation on Saturday morning via Youtube, in a recording made in Plumas County, in the hard-hit community of Greenville.

Most of Greenville was destroyed during the burning of the Dixie Fire, which still threatens close to 15,000 structures in multiple counties of Northern California. It has burned 780 square miles and is only 31% contained. The Dixie Fire started on July 13, 2021. The cause is still under investigation.

LaMalfa's chief of staff, Mark Spannagel, said that the Congressmember was asked to give the address in order to highlight the fires and simple solutions.

"Fixing our failing forest policy can't wait," said Congressmember LaMalfa. "The western states, and in particular Northern California, are burning up."

"Our rural towns are under siege and the federal government is part of what has been standing in the way," he added.

Congressmember LaMalfa said that the US is the number two importer of wood while our forests burn around us."

The recent active, wet weather pattern is taking a break over northern California as a ridge of high pressure moves overhead. Our short term weather will remain quiet, but more chances of rain are coming soon.
