MINERAL, Calif. – People in the town of Mineral are already under an evacuation warning due to the Dixie Fire and now they are facing a new threat.

Another fire that started on Friday from a lightning bolt in the area now also has them on high alert.

Action News Now spoke with one couple who just evacuated to Mineral from their home in Westwood less than a week ago.

“We're just hoping when we go back home there's something to go to,” Mineral resident Clark Tomlinson said.

He and Pamela Callen had been staying with friends in the town of Mineral. Now they're getting ready to evacuate again.

The Morgan Fire burning nearby in the Lassen National Forest and stronger winds have them planning to leave again. They say the hardest part is the unknown.

“Just not knowing where we're going to be, are we going to have a roof over our heads or not,” Callan said.

CAL FIRE says crews are making good progress with the Morgan Fire but they're keeping a close eye on it and say it is possible it could merge with the Dixie Fire.

For now, people in Mineral are on standby in case they have to go.

The couple says they plan to stay in Sonora with friends and family until they can return home.

At this time the town of Mineral is still under an evacuation warning due to the Dixie Fire.

CAL FIRE says crews have been conducting firing operations near the Morgan Fire and control lines are holding for now.
