REDDING, Calif. - A Steps for Change walk will be on Saturday to help support first responders and veterans.

The walk will begin at 9:11 a.m. and will be at the McConnell Foundation Trail at 800 Shasta View Dr. in Redding. People should arrive at 8:30 a.m.

“K&K Community Events and Code 9 are sponsoring a Steps for Change walk for your community to raise funds so that we can return and provide those training to the much needed Shasta County area that is just being inundated with these fires and a tremendous amount of strain on our first responders and law enforcement,” said Brandeilee Baker, the president and co-founder of The Code 9 Project.

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and is also the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The Code 9 Project is a nonprofit that will provide education and training for first responders, veterans and their families to prevent PTSD and suicide.

Cloudy skies and very light scattered showers are lingering across northern California for the start of your Wednesday, but we'll be clearing out and warming up Wednesday afternoon. We'll be sunny and warmer on Thursday, but clouds will increase Friday. More showers are looking likely Friday night into Saturday, but we'll dry out again for Halloween on Sunday.
