REDDING, Calif. - The City of Redding has confirmed the appointment of a permanent Fire Chief.
Cullen Kreider, who has been serving as Redding's Interim Fire Chief, will be taking the position. City officials say he was hired after "intensely competitive" national search.
Kreider is the first Chief to come up through the ranks of the Redding Fire Department since 1986. He has served the department for 27 years.
Kreider has been serving as Interim Chief since the death of Gerry Gray in July of 2018.
The appointment is subject to approval by the Redding City Council.
