OROVILLE, Calif. - The Oroville City Council on Tuesday unanimously voted to ban the distribution of needles within their city limits.
The vote was 7-0 in moving forward with what they called "Ordinance 1842."
The ban will go in effect in 30 days.
Everyone who wished to comment during the meeting all agreed with the ban as well.
Mayor Chuck Reynolds suggested to the city administrator to move forward with writing a letter to the State Department of Public Health over concerns of needle distribution programs in other cities.
Reynolds commented during the meeting that cities should mark the syringes with a type of serial number to identify which city those needles came from.
