OROVILLE, Calif. - A big fundraiser for youth programs in Paradise is being held in Oroville this year because of the Camp Fire.
Saturday night in Oroville at Gold County Casino a party and auction were held to kick off the youth program fundraising events related to the sweet dessert.
Approximately 400 people attended an event Saturday night put on by Paradise Chocolate Fest organizers to "sweeten the pot."
Saturday night's guests pitched in to support two dozen different youth groups from Paradise, including local scouts and programs at Paradise schools.
Action News Now anchor Debbie Cobb donated a special item to the auction. The top bidder has the rights to name the main character in her new children's book. The auction item brought in $3,950 that will go to the youth of Paradise.
The actually daylong Chocolate Fest will be held on June 1, 2019, at Gold Country Casino between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
