CHICO, Calif. - While many restaurants have received the green light to reopen their doors, one local business owner in Chico is choosing to wait it out.

Cafe Coda on Humboldt Avenue has been a staple of Chico for many years but the restaurant has been closed since the stay-at-home order.

The owner says he is still facing many obstacles and is not ready to ask his employees to come back to work yet.

"I still feel that uncertainty, we stand to learn a lot by observing what's happening in this town, other towns, other restaurants, to see what worked, what didn't and also the public perception is one of the biggest things because if you're perceived to be mishandling this situation, that could have dire consequences too," said owner Eric Danielli.

He also said as of right now, he is still not sure when he will reopen his doors and he is still exploring different options.

Danielli said he is grateful for the community that has been reaching out to him during the pandemic.
