CHICO, Calif. – The 15th annual “Run for Food” will still take place on Thanksgiving Day, but not in Bidwell Park.
5,000 people took part in last year's run, which benefits Chico's Jesus Center. The center provides meals for the hungry and helps the homeless with job training and transitional housing.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, instead of gathering in the park, participants are asked to run the 5k “their way” in their own neighborhood or trails, while wearing their Run for Food attire.
On Thanksgiving morning runners will gather on Facebook as the event emcee announces the starting call for the run. Click Here to register.
The Chico Run for Food started in 2006 with just over 1,000 participants and now the event brings together 5,000 participants each year along with 75 businesses and 200 volunteers for a true community-wide event.
