Chico transient arrested for breaking into local business

Chico police said alert staff members helped bust a burglary suspect inside Coast Physical Therapy on Mangrove Ave just after 9 p.m. on Oct. 29.

CHICO, Calif. - Chico police said alert staff members helped bust a burglary suspect inside Coast Physical Therapy on Mangrove Ave. in Chico, just after 9 p.m. on Oct. 29.

Staff members noticed a broken window to the business and when they went to check it out, they saw a man inside the business, police said.

The staff confronted him and he then walked off into an alley and the police were called. Officers quickly located 30-year-old Christian Berkeley, a local transient, police said.

With the aid of a K-9, Officers searched the business and didn’t find anyone else inside. Officers learned that Berkeley forced his way into the business.

Berkeley was arrested for Burglary and booked into Butte County Jail.
