CHICO, Calif. - Students delivered a musical send-off Thursday for a long-time music teacher at Hooker Oak Elementary School.
About 25 students performed a surprise serenade in front of music teacher Kim Gimbal's home. He's retiring after 24 years of teaching music.
Due to COVID-19, the students didn't have the chance for a proper goodbye. So instead, they practiced remotely to prepare and came together with safe distancing to sing "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "Lean on Me" to the teacher.
Mr. Gimbal taught music, band, and choir for Rosedale and Hooker Oak Elementary schools since 1997. Many students have said he inspired and motivated them over the years.
