CHICO, Calif. - Police officers are preparing to run the Flame of Hope through Chico on Tuesday.

Law enforcement officers are coming together to show their support for the Special Olympics.

Officers are the ones starting off the torch run in Butte County. They will first go to Bidwell Mansion and then to the Chico City Plaza at 9:30 a.m. for a ceremony.

There are six Chico police officers involved.

Commander Billy Aldridge said the athletes love law enforcement officers, so it's important to be involved.

"If we can do anything to make their day better, help them out in any way we possibly can to raise funds for the program, it's a small amount of our time for a big portion of impact on their lives," Aldridge said.

We have beautiful weather around northern California right now, but it will get a lot more unsettled this weekend as a storm moves overhead. We can expect gusty wind, a big cooldown, and areas of light to moderate rain.
