Chico police searching for suspect who robbed local hardware store

A hardware store employee was attacked with pepper spray after a suspect robbed the store in Chico on Monday afternoon, police said.

CHICO, Calif. – A hardware store employee was attacked with pepper spray after a suspect robbed the store in Chico on Monday afternoon, police said.

Chico Police Officers responded to the True Value Hardware Store in the 200 block of W. East Avenue at 1:15 p.m.

The store employee reported that he confronted a suspect stealing power tools. The man attacked the employee with pepper spray and then ran off on his bicycle.

Police said the suspect is described as a white adult man wearing black clothing.
