Chico Police: Driver killed in early morning crash after running red light

Police say the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were not injured.

UPDATE 1 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2020 - Chico Police said the driver killed in the April 9 crash was 22-year-old Lenore Robertson of Chico.

Chico's Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the early morning scene and say they learned Robertson ran a red light and caused the collision.

The two other women in her car were taken to a local hospital where officials say they are cooperating with the investigation.

Police say the 24-year-old driver and his passenger of the other vehicle were not injured and are also cooperating with the investigation. No charges will be filed against him, according to officials.

CHICO, Calif. - Chico police closed the westbound lanes on 8th Street near the intersection of Main and Broadway after a crash that killed one driver and injured two passengers.

Police are on the scene investigating the crash. They say two vehicles crashed into each other around 5 a.m. Thursday morning. Police are asking drivers to avoid traveling near that area.
