Chico police chase, arrest suspected car burglar

Chico police chased down and arrested a suspect in a car burglary on Wednesday.

CHICO, Calif. - Chico police chased down and arrested a suspect in a car burglary on Wednesday.

Authorities first received reports of the suspected burglary Wednesday afternoon, when they received a call about a man breaking into and stealing items from a car in the Kmart parking lot. 

Officers responded to the scene and saw the suspect driving near East and Floral Avenues. 

The suspect sped off, involving the officers in a chase. 

Around five minutes later, an officer spotted the suspect near the Lindo Channel. They searched the man's car and found stolen merchandise. 

Robert Gonzales, 35, was arrested and booked into Butte County Jail for vehicle burglary, possession of burglary tools and evading police.
