Chico police arrest 2 transient men during fight in Chico city plaza

The Chico Police Department arrested two homeless men after they said a fight broke out at the Chico City Plaza.

UPDATE 4:55 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2019 - The Chico Police Department has identified the men involved in a fight that broke out in the Chico city plaza on Monday. 

Thomas Bona, a 33-year-old Chico transient, was arrested and booked into Butte County Jail for brandishing a knife. 

Richard Gaskin, a 43-year-old Chico transient, was arrested and booked into Butte County Jail for assault with a bike part and an unrelated warrant.

CHICO, Calif. - The Chico Police Department arrested two homeless men after they said a fight broke out at the Chico City Plaza. 

According to Sargeant Curtis Prosise, the two men were in an argument at the Circle K on Park Avenue. 

The two men then made their way to the Chico City Plaza around 10:45 a.m. 

Authorities said one man pulled out a folding knife and the second man started hitting him with a bicycle part. 

The man with the knife was hospitalized and arrested for brandishing a knife. 

The man with the bike part was arrested for assault and an unrelated warrant. 

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the two men involved. Stay tuned for updates.
