CHICO, Calif- With the Coronavirus crisis there are some reminders for park visitors on top of the already suggested safety precautions for Memorial Day weekend.

Signs are posted around Upper and Lower Bidwell park encouraging people to do your part and stay six feet apart.

Chico Parks and Resources Manager Linda Herman says that means they don't suggest having large gatherings or picnics.

At Lower Bidwell Sycamore Pool is not officially open, and there are no lifeguards on duty so swim at your own risk.

Herman says only charcoal barbecues at designated areas around the park are permitted and no wood-burning fires.

Park rangers will be out this weekend patrolling the grounds, but Herman says she hopes people will practice safety on their own.

"It's a hard thing to enforce and we're hoping we don't have to do that and that we're not going out actively looking but if they get a call they have to respond to that call cause a lot of people have eyes on everyone and everything with the situation right now," said Herman.

Herman says people should bring their own water, sanitation, and cleaning supplies when coming to the park.

The pool is not cleaned yet so you could come across some obstacles there. They're hoping to clean the pool by next week.
