CHICO, Calif. - One Chico neighborhood has become a lot more colorful, and the mural that has been painted on the side of it reveals compassion for several homeless people who have passed away within the city.
A Chico woman named Siana Sonoquie has painted a special mural with the help of several of her friends. It is on the outside of the 1078 Gallery, on Park Avenue at 17th Street.
The mural was finished in two days.
Sonoquie said, "I wanted the mural to be a celebration of the people's lives that we lost, and a message to our homeless neighbors that they're loved and not disposable."
At least a dozen names of homeless people who passed away are featured in the mural. It's Sonoquie's mission to honor their passing with her artwork.
She said she will add more names to the mural if she is asked.
