Driver identified, suspected of crashing stolen Prius into logging truck

A 31-year-old Chico woman is dead after authorities said she slammed a stolen Prius into a parked logging truck on Highway 299.

UPDATE 10:22 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 - The Shasta County Sheriff's Office has identified the driver killed in a crash on Highway 299 Wednesday. 

She has been identified as Erika M. Westlake, 31, of Chico.

CHICO, Calif. - A 31-year-old Chico woman is dead after authorities said she slammed a stolen Prius into a parked logging truck on Highway 299.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon on Highway 299, east of Redding. 

Investigators said the driver was likely under the influence of drugs. 

Her identity has not been released.
