Chico police arrest man on elder abuse charges

Chico police arrested a man they said assaulted an elderly person.

CHICO, Calif. - Chico police arrested a man they said assaulted an elderly person.

Officers responded to call around 11:47 p.m. Tuesday from an elderly person who said they were attacked by two men.


Chico Police officers arrested 55-year-old Randy Douglas Tuesday night.

The victim says they were sitting on a bench in Depot Park, located at 431 Cedar St. when two men approached him. The victim says at least one of the men punched him, causing several non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers searched Depot Park and found 55-year-old Randy Douglas. Officers say Douglas matched the description of the attacker, and due to evidence collected on scene officers decided to arrest Douglas. He is facing charges of elder abuse.
