BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - On Wednesday, Jedidiah Wright, 29, of Chico was arraigned in Butte County Superior Court for the Aug. 1 murder of John Snoberger, 46, of Chico, according to the Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey.
Wright and Snoberger were both living in the homeless encampment in the Comanche Creek area of Chico, according to Ramsey.
Wright allegedly stabbed Snoberger with a knife in the chest. Snoberger later died from his injuries.
Wright was found approximately one block away from the crime scene within minutes of Chico police officers’ arrival and was identified as the stabbing suspect, the Butte County District Attorney said.
An investigation revealed Wright had confronted Snoberger regarding a prior fight that Snoberger had engaged in with another homeless individual in the encampment the day before.
Wright will next appear in court on Aug. 5 to enter a plea to the charge of Murder.
He is currently in custody at the Butte County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
